DATE your SPOUSE!

IMAG0810.jpg

Sounds kind of silly, huh?  In all actuality it is extremely important to do though in order to maintain the romance and excitability between the two partners.  My number one goal with my husband is to never allow the relationship to become stagnant.  I realize that this may be difficult and require work, but isn't that what marriage is?  I fear people give up too easily on marriage these days.  Some people get married under false pretensions that they are going to live in a fairytale now that they are hitched; unfortunately that is not reality.  There will be days when your spouse will drive you nuts (I am almost positive Nate has already found himself to this point being married to me:) the important thing is to always look past your partner's shortcomings by seeing their good qualities and how they triumph.  I am fortunate enough to have a group of close friends that have had extremely successful marriages for 15+ years!  How incredible is that?!  I am constantly listening to their wise words on how to accomplish such an achievement.  Without a doubt I know my soul mate is Nate Jorgensen and plan to someday celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary!!

One way that I will create excitement for our relationship is by always keeping Nate on his toes.  Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I am not one to sit for a long period of time.  I HAVE to always be doing something.  Nate and my cousin always even tease me that I am unable to watch an entire movie because I will end up doing laundry, mopping the floor, etc.  Ha ha oh well I am who I am!

My cousin Mikey's school is having their annual Valentine's Dance and since his ex girlfriend (tramatic for the lil guy, he is 17 go figure) asked another dude I decided to hook my cous up with one of my good friend's daughter.  Given that my cousin is kind of shy he asked Nate and I to join him.... Yee-haw back to high school we a go!  Well, I figured since we are going we might as well make it official and therefore I needed to ask him to this girl's choice dance :D  Yesterday, after Realtor Tour I had to run some errands and while I was out an about I ran across an "It's A Girl!" balloon.  Too funny... I hung it up with some signs outside our house for Nate to come home to.  As I was in the kitchen cooking dinner Nate came running into the house and exclaimed, "BABE, ARE WE PREGNANT?"  I felt SO bad at that point, but had no idea homeboy would even think that because we are NOT trying for kids right now, but nonetheless I had to inform him this was so NOT the case.  I then led him to the coffee table where he found a sign saying, "....asking you to the Valentine's Dance."

I am also making matching shirts to surprise Nate for the dance... I will post pics when I am done.

Have a great day!  I am off to Red Lobster to celebrate my Mom's 29th Birthday with friends!

11-11-11

This not only was the BEST day of my life, but also the most stressful.  Nate and I arrived to the temple at 9:30 for our 11 AM appointment (Well, lets be honest I got there at like 10).  We were asked to present our marriage license and neither of us had a clue as to what they were asking.  Both of us were under the impression that the temple took care of everything; including our license.  We were then told to rush down to 21st and State to get one.  We literally ran to Nate's car and drove as fast as we could.  Upon arriving we realized that it was not only our wedding day, but Veteran's Day as well.  At that moment I felt my heart break into a bazillion little pieces.  My mom called me and also informed me of what we already knew, she told us that we were going to have to fake it and then get married on Monday.  I felt like Carrie on SATC when Big tells her he is not coming!  So many emotions were going through my head.  We then arrived back at the temple and we were told to wait while they called in favors to have a clerk come in and issue us a license.  We waited while the temple worker called several county clerks.  Finally at about 10:30 we got a hold of Sherrie Swenson and she agreed to meet us!!!!  At this moment I accepted that my 11-11-11 at 11 AM was out the window, but I was so grateful that I would at least get my wedding day.  We piled back into Nate's car and drove on back down to 21st and State to get our license.  We then rushed back to the temple to GET MARRIED!!!
We had  to track down a couple more documents upon arrival that added a tiny bit more stress to our day, but we were able to get them and finally load the elevator.  My mom, aunt, uncle, our temple worker, Annie, Nate, and I were talking about how amazing that it was for us to actually get a license and after what felt like hours I asked, "where are we going?!?  This is the longest elevator ride of my life!"  Bless our little elderly temple worker; she forgot to push the button!  At this point I was so stressed because I knew our friends and family had taken off work to be there for us and I felt awful!  FINALLY, we arrive into the bride's room and I quickly dress for our ceremony.  After watching 4-5 brides be taken into the next room to meet their groom I started getting anxious and worried about Nate.  My temple lady goes again to check for Nate and he is still not there.... she comes back and informs me, "honey, your groom bailed".  At this point I was DONE; I told my lil gal that she better go find him and make him marry me :)  After a few more minutes my fiance' made his way into the room and I was able to go and meet him.  (He explained later that his temple worker made his situation super stressful therefore causing the hold-up).  We then were escorted into a room and told to wait with the other bazillion couples there were that day.  We waited and waited for what seemed like eternity, when finally I saw my sister, mom, brother-in-law.... etc. walk by.  I knew this meant we were getting close!!!!!!!!!!!  I have never been more relieved in my life.  Our ceremony was absolutely perfect as were the pictures to follow.

Following pictures we headed up to the reception center for more pictures.  Due to the delay no one was at the church yet.  Nate wanted to take his car to our house to ensure no one would do damage to it, so off he went and I was left with my nieces and Ciara (the photographer).  Finally Nate's groomsmen arrived and asked me where their tuxedos were so they could go change for the ring ceremony.  I told them it was their responsibility to get their tuxedos and that neither Nate; nor I picked them up for them..... boys!  By this time I honestly did not care.  I was just so thrilled to be married and wanted to be on my honeymoon.  Nate's groomsmen did however drive like race car drivers down to 33rd to pick them up and I truly am so grateful that they did not get hurt in doing this.  They arrived back just in time for the ring ceremony (one of the groomsman's pants were like 7 sizes too big, so my sis aka wedding coordinator :) just had him wear jeans, which looked great.  Another groomsman forgot his shoes, so he wore bright red ones).  The ring ceremony was absolutely perfect!  I was so scared and amazed I was able to pull it off.

The reception was super fun and it was truly so wonderful to see so many amazing friends come from a far to support us!!!!  I had SO many girlfriends from high school come and it made my day!  You all know who you are :)

Thanks to everyone for making my day so incredibly perfect!  My sister for assisting as the wedding coordinator, Matt for taking such awesome pictures, my bridesmaids that truly helped in every way, Annie for keeping me sane in the temple and letting me borrow the tv, Uncle Rick and Aunt Denise for making sure everything went off accordingly, Aunt Di and Uncle Mike for chatting me through the entire process and helping with the centerpieces, my dad for providing the beautiful flowers and photobooth, Scoot and B for getting my luggage so I was not stuck in a wedding dress on my honeymoon, my mom for being there for all the appointments and for support, and last but not least my husband for being right by my side through the chaos, laughs, fun, etc.
